Why can’t I get a refund or postpone if its less than 60 days to the event?

Although we appreciate that business and hiring circumstances can change, we unfortunately do have to adhere to our strict no refund policy if a company decides they can no longer attend within 60 days of the event. This includes both canceling or postponing within this time frame.

There’s a number of reasons for this that we’re happy to share:

1) We’re a small business and there’s significant upfront costs with organising an event the size and scale of Silicon Milkroundabout. So we protect ourselves by having such terms which every company signs and agrees to at the point of booking.

2) It would become a slippery slope if we started making an exception to this rule. We treat all companies the same, regardless of their size or reputation. So we are unable to make any acceptances.

3) We often sell out of spaces and have to turn companies away after we tell them we’ve sold out of certain options. It is not easy reselling a space once we’ve communicated that they’ve sold out, which means we lose out on additional revenue.

4) Companies benefit from having their profile and jobs posted on our website and may have been included in social and email promotions. We know a lot of instances where companies have hired as a direct result of our jobs board but before the actual event. So there’s usually brand exposure that has been enjoyed by the company that is part of our service before the event, which needs to be recognised.

5) It can be disappointing to candidates to see companies listed as attending not being present at the event. So we want to avoid this happening and encourage companies to still attend as much as possible.

Also please remember that as an events based business, the pandemic years have been particularly challenging (as they have for many) so we really appreciate your support.

Hopefully this goes some way to explaining why we don’t offer a refund if canceling in less than 60 days.
