event code of conduct

All attendees at our events are required to agree with the following code of conduct. As organisers, Silicon Milkroundabout will enforce this code throughout an event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensuring a safe environment for everybody.

tl;dr: Be excellent with each other.

The Quick Version

Silicon Milkroundabout is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any Silicon Milkroundabout event whether the format is a jobs fair, talks, workshops, a party, or whether the interaction is happening face-to-face or on Twitter and other online media. Silicon Milkroundabout event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from our event immediately and without a refund at the discretion of Silicon Milkroundabout, the event organisers.

The Less Quick Version

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Event participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

It should go without saying that event participants include companies hiring at or sponsoring a Silicon Milkroundabout event, and these companies are also subject to this code of conduct. In particular, companies should not use sexualised images, activities, or other material. Participating company staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment.

If an event participant engages in harassing behaviour, Silicon Milkroundabout may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund.

Need to report something?

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of Silicon Milkroundabout staff immediately. Silicon Milkroundabout staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing branded t-shirts.

Silicon Milkroundabout staff will be happy to help event participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.

We expect events participants to follow these rules at all Silicon Milkroundabout events including event-related social events.
